Pull the old 9 volt battery out of the keypad and install the new battery.

Step 2 replace the batteries.
If the door works then you re good to go.
Push open the genie s front cover to access the keypad.
Slide the battery cover down with your thumb and remove the cover from the keypad.
Look beneath the keypad to find the plastic battery compartment.
If you use a garage door remote and the door still isn t opening then it may be the batteries in the remote that are dead.
Repeat the same process for the remote taking out the old batteries and replacing them with new ones.
If your garage door opener operates via remote control you can remove the old batteries by simply sliding the door located at the back of the remote control.
Place the battery cover over the battery compartment until it locks into place.
Step 2 press the indention on the battery cover to remove it.
Check again and see if your door is opening.
If your garage door opener has slow response times or led lights aren t working.
To replace the battery open the remote s case by inserting a coin into the slot on top of the device and using it to pry off the battery compartment cover.
