Horn Honks Every Time I Lock Door

My first issue with this car has to be the horn honking every time i lock or unlock the car whether i use the remote or the button inside the door.

Press the power door lock lock button once to enter the command. Turning off the horn honking feature does not affect the panic alarm function or vehicle s security system. And using the lock button in the cabin to lock the doors doesn t apparently set the alarm. Watch for the hazard lights to flash once.

I have a rental vw jetta. The rap module should chirp the horn one time. This doesn t seem right to me. Sometimes my car also does this wen the car is off.

There should only be one chirp indicating that the autolock relock feature has been disabled. Turn it off turn it on all at a fingers reach. Horn confirmation for when you leave a key in the car and horn confirmation for lock unlock can all be controlled from the radio. The lock button on the inside of the door does not work when the door is open.

If you want to reactivate the horn honk feature you could trying pressing and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for at least two seconds. The door unlocked but the alarm sounded and i had to lock and unlock with the remote to stop the alarm. Da horn blows briefly like an alarm was being engaged. In this case all the doors lock up and tail and headlights flash.

Couple this with the wimpiest horn of all time and this is going to drive me crazy. If you use the actual key to lock the car door itself the horn honks. I dont have any key remote an i dont see any alarm horn under the hood so im lost cuz although it isnt a big problem i dont like to announce my arrival to everyone. With honking horn of course does a situation come up where you want to lock the doors but feel the alarm is an overkill.

If you lock the doors with the key fob the horn honks for one short honk. I had locked the door originally with the remote at home i went through the process a couple more times and found that if i unlock and open the door with the key the alarm will sound. If one chirp is heard followed by a longer honk the autolock relock feature has just been enabled. It honks on the first push of the remote when i lock it and honks twice when i on the first push when i unlock it.

The car is a 2002 chevy malibu.
